Mend Your Soul "Monthly Moments" Newsletter

Monthly musings, information, and updates to deliver encouragement and hope your way.

Hey Deanna,

I hope this month finds you with a “peace beyond all understanding,” even in the midst of your life circumstances. Philippians 4:6

Did you enjoy the 4th?

Mine was a little different.  This Independence Day, I took a more personal look at independence.  Yes, celebrating the independence of our country, that we live in such a wonderful country which honors freedom, and that every person is recognized as  “… endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.", is in the forefront of what July 4th is all about.  Yet, for me, I also took the time to celebrate my Independence from abuse and tyranny and all of its effects on my identity and person.

It was so liberating to revel in that type of freedom.  To recognize it and celebrate it, to be in it.  What a joy to be free to be the person God created me to be. Free to pursue the best version of myself, chasing after what has been modeled by Christ and how He calls me into what it means to live as the best version (christlike) of myself.

If you are wrestling with overcoming the effects of an abusive situation(s), I am sorry.  It is a tough journey.  Words seem small when trying to ease the pain of healing from such deep wounds.  One of the solaces I experience is that God sees, God knows, and God Comforts, always.  He knows abuse, as our dear Savior Jesus Christ, for he experienced it at the hands of others himself.  His Comfort is right there, waiting to be noticed and received.

I am excited to share a new development.

As you know, I have been working with women who are wanting freedom from the effects that abuse has had on their heart, mind, and soul, and I've been doing this via my coaching business, “Mend Your Soul, Deanna Lang Coaching,” LLC.

Well…… there has been a shift.  I believe that God has directed me to come from a place of service, not a place of business.

It has always been on my heart to serve those who want guidance and coaching support for their healing journey.  I do not want financial circumstances to be an issue for individuals to get the support and help they need.  To tell you the truth, it was finances that kept me from taking advantage of the help I needed.  When I did get the help I needed, it was through the ministry of others who had a purpose and passion for helping others find freedom in Christ.

I am excited and blessed to share with you that “Mend Your Soul Ministries” has been formed.  Through this ministry, I will provide counsel and coaching to those seeking to overcome the pain and burdens of an abusive past and discover all that God has for them instead.

The Word

I love Isaiah 61:1-3.  It was such a comfort to me and still is.  (I italicized the parts I particularly like)

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

May I pray for you?

(a prayer inspired by Mary DeMuth)

Jesus, I lift up Deanna. Hearken Deanna to feast on your word and long for your voice. Encourage and Comfort Deanna with specificity. I pray for a significant breakthrough in Deanna's most difficult relationship(s). Restore Deanna's emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental health. Thank you for being present in Deanna's life, even when Deanna may not perceive it. In the words of the worship song: "Even when I don't see it; you're working. Even when I don't feel it, you're working. You never stop working on Deanna's behalf. Open up the heavens and help Deanna catch a glimpse of your work, I pray, amen.

With Gratitude,

Deanna
